The Voice can reveal that former Plymouth Parkway and Tiverton Town midfielder Steve Colwell is set to make a return to Bodmin Town this summer.

The experienced 33-year-old left Priory Park for Southern League side Tiverton midway through the 2018-2019 season, before linking up with Lee Hobbs’ Parkway side last summer.

After helping the club top the ultimately null and void Western League Premier Division, Parkway announced late last week that they had released the ex-Weymouth man, who is now expected to make a return to South West Peninsula football for the 2021-22 campaign.

Colwell could be joined at Priory Park by former Tivvy and Parkway team-mate Levi Landricombe, who has also seen his time with the Plymouth club brought to an end.

Both played a starring role in Bodmin’s recent pre-season friendly win over TB7, with Town manager Darren Gilbert, speaking exclusively to the Voice, explaining: “Steve played for us and is a player we are trying to get full-time. Levi came in as well and helped us because we had Sol Wheatley, Lyle Johnson and Lee Bevan out. We dragged those two in to have a little bit of a gander and see what they could offer us.
“I know what Steve can do because I have had him there for a few years. I was very impressed and Levi, Dan Jennings and Stuart Bowker played really well together. They hit it off and did really well.

“Steve told me if he got released by Parkway then he wants to come down and play under me one more time and that would be nice if he does.

“With Levi, I don’t know. He is good friends with Steve and a couple of the others so I am hoping that we can persuade him to come but I think he still has ambitions to play a bit higher at the moment.”
