Bodmin’s park runs for youngsters will return this weekend, after the outbreak of the pandemic put paid to any meet-ups.

Organisers have confirmed that a restart park run will be held this Sunday, May 30.

Children aged four to 10 are welcome to take part in the free event, which will take place every Sunday going forward.

The two-kilometre route consists of two loops around the outside of the new Berrycoombe Vale car park and along part of the Camel Trail.

Bodmin’s junior park run, which was the first in the county, has been suspended since March 2020.
The session is organised by park run volunteers. Junior park run is a spin-off of park run, a five-kilometre event held on Saturdays.

The nearest park run for Bodmin is around the grounds of Lanhydrock.

Junior park runs are typically for children aged four to 14, but will remain limited until Saturday park runs resume on June 26.

Sunday’s junior event begins with a briefing and warm up at 8.50am, led by RUNCREW, followed by the run at 9.00am and a trip to the Jolly Hangman cafe at Bodmin Jail afterwards for refreshments.

There is no booking required, although those taking part for the first time must register at to acquire a barcode to enter.

A spokesperson for Bodmin’s junior park run said: “Of course, like everything else, we have been cancelled since March 2020 but we are so excited to be back.

“We hope to welcome lots of our regular young runners and new ones too.

“Of course, none of this could happen without the time, energy and enthusiasm of our loyal volunteers whom we thank every week in our briefing. We always need more – no running required just a sense of fun and loads of enthusiasm.”
